POSITION: Part-time Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator

AGENCY DESCRIPTION: The Asian Law Alliance (ALA) is a non-profit community law office that has provided legal services, community education and advocacy services since 1977 to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Santa Clara County. Priority areas are immigration/citizenship, housing, domestic violence, public benefits and civil rights.

• Recruiting volunteers for citizenship and immigration events
• Conducting presentations on citizenship to potential volunteers
• Managing volunteers at citizenship and immigration workshop events
• Working with community based organizations, educational institutions and faith based groups to plan and schedule workshops and presentations on various legal topics.
• Plan and execute an ethnic media strategy for the immigration program and upcoming immigration workshops
• Conducting community presentations on procedures and benefits of obtaining U.S. citizenship and other subjects
• Assisting in the distribution of immigration pamphlets and brochures
• Assist in the development of pamphlets on relevant issues

• Must have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the immigrant, refugee and low-income communities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Reliability and flexibility
• Familiarity with word processing/computer equipment
• Ability to work with both traditional and social media
• Bilingual skills in Vietnamese, Spanish, Chinese or other Asian Language desirable
• California driver’s license and own vehicle required

COMPENSATION: Salary $1,650 to $1,806 per month / DOE – (20 hours per week) Benefits include medical; dental; and vision plan; sick leave, paid vacation and holidays.
