Giao Tran is the Outreach Coordinator at ALA. She coordinates the Community Education program and works with ALA’s community based partners to host immigration workshops. She recruits, trains and manages volunteers for ALA’s annual Citizenship Day, which is attended by thousands of immigrants who seek to apply for citizenship. She speaks English and Vietnamese fluently and has conducted presentations in both languages. She received her B.A. in Political Science from UC Berkeley.
Giao is an active member of VietUnity-South Bay/PACT (People Acting in Community Together), playing leading roles in the grassroots organization’s civic engagement and deportation defense work. She is an alumnus of Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles Youth Advisory Council, Southeast Asia Resource Action Center’s Leadership and Advocacy Training, and UC Berkeley’s Cal-in-Sacramento Fellowship. Prior to working at ALA, Giao was a substitute teacher for Eastside Union High School District and a Program Associate at Working Partnerships USA.
